Originally, this site was planned to be a resource for people interested in living with a little bit less than they have now… but like good all plans, this one changed too.
Rather than living a smaller lifestyle, we started to expand – chiefly with this little guy http://liam.dumbculture.com/. As our little atomic family got a little atomic-er, we started to collect again. Baby things mostly. ALL of them necessary and ALL of them wonderful.
So there we were, zipping along living our lives and collecting things (and people) and not updating this site – it just didn’t seem like a priority.
Then came the house.

We loved it the moment we saw it. And loved it even more when we went inside. And more still when we learned of it’s history and met the owners.
So here we are on the cusp of another change and looking to live a little smaller in the process.

I’m a current fan of the wall-mounted-magnet-powered knife holder, but this is fantastic.
This above all: to thine own self be true,… was a pearl (among many) of advice that Polonius gave to his son Laertes in “Hamlet”. Polonius was feeling the sorrow of his son leaving the nest and was trying to impart some last-minute fatherly advice to guide him on his way. The phrase resonates true in the organizing mindset as well.

Too much crap!
That’s what it’s about. Every day we buy, make and lust after more and more things: Big things, little things, things with value and things that just fill a empty space.
Live Small is a little blog dedicated to culling some of the junk from our life – it’s a work in progress. As we go through the process we’ll share what we learn. And hopefully you’ll share with us along the way.
